DESCRIPTION:The Glendale Senior Citizens Club and the Nicolet Recreation Department are sponsoring the 30th annual Sheepshead Tournament on Saturday\, April 11\, 2026! This is a recreational Five-Handed Sheepshead Tournament offered for Fun\, Fellowship\, and Fundraising. Every registrant will play three (3) rounds of fifteen (15) hands. Food and beverages will be available for sale starting at 11:00 a.m. Tournament starts at Noon. \nWin prizes: 1st Place– $100 & Plaque\, 2nd Place– $75\, 3rd Place– $50\, Next 12 places (4th-15th)– $25 \nCost: $20 ($25 After March 1\, 2026) \nPlace- Nicolet High School- Cafeteria (6701 N. The game was developed by peasants who were fed up with their government and expressed their discontent by giving the” king” card a lower rank. The “10” of Cards is higher than the king. The Game is played with 32 cards (7s thru Aces). In fact\, Sheepshead (Schafskopf – In German) has been declared as “Milwaukee’s Official Card Game” by the City of Milwaukee Common Council – on October 24\, 1983.” Mr. Sheepshead” (Robert Strupp) received the Award – On behalf of Sheepshead players everywhere. Sheepshead is known to be Wisconsin’s “GEMUTLICHKEIT” Game\, meaning “congeniality\, good times\, fun\, friendship\, and laughter.” \nThis is the largest Sheepshead Tournament in Wisconsin\, and actually – In the World. It started in 1994 with 20 participants\, coordinated by the Glendale Recreation Department. At our last Tournament in 2025\, there were 200 players. This year\, the committee is planning for 300 participants. It has grown every year\, both in numbers\, and in prizes. Since 1999\, the Nicolet Recreation Department has administered the Tournament. The Glendale Senior Citizens Club has been involved from the beginning. The Tournament is a wonderful community event\, bringing people in from all over the state.
