DESCRIPTION:Current Exhibit\nGreen Bay Art Colony\nArt of the Aviary\nSeptember 1 – December 31\, 2025 \n\nSchlitz Audubon Nature Center is honored to host Green Bay Art Colony’s first exhibit in the greater Milwaukee area! This iteration of the “Art of the Aviary” exhibit includes 31 pieces from 19 Art Colony members. An aviary is a large enclosure that displays flying creatures\, often birds. Contributing artists have created their unique interpretations of this theme in their pieces\, using watercolor\, mixed media\, vitreous enamel on copper\, photography\, oil on linen\, cold wax\, acrylic paint and hand carved stencil\, acrylic and collage on canvas\, ink and watercolor\, and oils.   \nJoin us for an inspiring and joyful social reception on Wednesday\, September 10 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Meet featured artists and fellow art lovers to discuss each wonderful piece and connect with a community of creatives.   \nFeatured Artists: Maureen Blaney Flietner | Carrie Dorski | Linda Glass | Barbi Gossen | Lisa Jansen | Virginia Janssen | Karen Kjell | Shanna Koltz | Ginny Laukka | Paige Nordstrom | Leah Norem | Heather Peterman | Lynn Peters | Suzy Slagel Pfeifer | Nancy Pierce | Jann Schonke | Linda Schroeder Golding | Cynthia Tumpach | Maria Victoria Walker (aka Lila Brochá) \nTo purchase a piece of artwork in the exhibit\, please contact the artist(s) directly using the corresponding identifier tag. The artists are generously donating a percentage of their sales to the Center. Some items will be available for purchase in our new Birding Resource Center as well. \nGreen Bay Art Colony was founded in 1915 by a group of nine visionary women. Eager to display their art to a wider audience\, they recruited six men to help them create the Neville Public Museum in 1927. They shared their first exhibit that year and have continued to regularly show art there since. Current members of the Green Bay Art Colony are proud to carry on the legacy as the longest continuously active women’s art group in Wisconsin. They contribute to their community by planning artist lectures and demonstrations\, making charitable gifts and donations\, and offering scholarships to young artists in the area. DESCRIPTION:Estabrook Beer Garden represents a return to an era that disappeared from our landscape with the start of Prohibition. It is the first truly public beer garden in America in nearly 100 years. Inspirations came from Milwaukee’s brewing legacy and the operation is modeled after beer gardens found in modern day Munich\, Germany. The Estabrook Beer Garden is a place for all people to come together enjoy nature\, a great beer and make new friends. \nEstabrook Park lies on the banks of the Milwaukee River\, the beer garden is set on a bluff just above a waterfall. Visitors arrive by foot\, bicycle\, automobile\, kayak and canoe. The beer garden is open Monday – Thursday from 12 PM – 9 PM\, Friday from 12 PM – 10 PM\, and Saturday/Sunday from 12 PM to 9 PM. Park Amenities include trails\, playgrounds\, disc golf course\, dog park\, soccer fields & riverwalk \nEstabrook Beer Garden features beers imported from the Munich Hofbräuhaus. We also offer local craft beer\, cider\, hard seltzer\, draft root beer and Pepsi products. Beer is served in the traditional “Isar Seidel” dimpled glass mugs. Visitors are always welcome to bring their own favorite beer stein. Food is limited to beer garden basics of Bratwurst\, Hot Dogs and our Famous Giant Fresh Baked Pretzel. Because the beer garden is truly a public place\, visitors are welcome to bring picnic baskets with their favorite fare and soft drinks.
