Appleton Avenue Labs, LLC and Standards of Excellence Education & Training Center, LLC are launching a citywide effort focused on mental instability and suicide prevention, beginning with a Wellness Walk and Black Mntal Health Initiative on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 8:00 AM.
This inaugural event will begin with a community Wellness Walk promoting movement, clarity, and unity. Following the walk, the Black Mental Health Initiative will offer resource connections and wellness stations led by culturally responsive mental health professionals, educators, and survivors.
At the heart of this initiative is a deeply personal tribute: the Anderson family has created a superhero called Black Lyte’N in honor of their lost loved one. His superpower? Showing up when people are silently struggling—to dispel darkness, restore hope, and interrupt suicidal thoughts with light.
