Swing Jazz Wednesdays: The Westerlees

Swing Jazz Wednesday at The Argo — The Westerlees brings vintage heat to the North Shore’s newest live music space.

Doors at 6:00pm. Music at 7:00pm. Join us before the show! Our restaurant & lounge opens at 4:00pm with food, cocktails, and more.

The Westerlees swing band plays both rare and popular tunes from the early 20th Century. Steel Guitar, Fiddle, Clarinet all come together to recreate the standard Western Swing lineup of the 1930’s. Everything from the Light Crust Doughboys to Bob Wills to Hank Williams is performed with levity and humor. Swing-era standards are carefully selected and arranged for maximum danceability. They also have many original tunes that capture the drollery of the Western Swing genre.

The band was founded in 2014 by singer and steel guitarist, Patrick Brenner. The band also includes Ed Novak on Guitar, Ben Holt on Upright Bass, Allen Russell on Fiddle, Jerry Kaye on Sax and Clarinet, Frank Gualtieri on Trombone, Amanda Mae on vocals, and a rotating cast of other soloists and vocalists, each bringing their own expertise and personality to the delectably nostalgic sound and performance of the Westerlees.

Swing Jazz Wednesdays are casual, welcoming, and all about the music. Come as you are, grab a seat and listen, or dance the night away. Join us for free swing dance lessons starting at 6:00 PM! Whether you’re a total beginner or just want to brush up your moves, this is the perfect chance to get into the rhythm before the show. Come early, learn something new, and hit the dance floor with confidence!

All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and supervised at all times while inside the building. Failure to provide proper supervision may result in removal from the premises. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests.
